Hello every one, first let me say that this forum has been a great help to me since im new to the hobby.
Now to the ? I have a 150 gallon reef tank and id like to get ride of my AquaClear Powerheads ( so my cousin from Cali says this is kiddy stuff) so im ready to purchase a wave maker. He said Wavysea is good also Tunzi but i just seen the Wave2k has any one used it and is it better than the others?

You might want to ask in the equipment forum as well. I haven't used the product, so I'm not sure how well it works.

when in doubt go tunze :P or build your own.

the tunze wave maker seems like you could make somthing similar to it using two float switches a latching relay system. a pump and a large diamiter pvp and some lead weight to keep the thing sunk ( of couruse lead would be sealed)

seaswirls get nowhere close to the effect that a wavemaker such as tunze or wave2k gets

My brain was about to explode after looking at all the wavemaker and closed loop options so I went with the Tunze streams. I like the Deco rock they make to hide them.

ive heard wave 2k is alot weaker then the tunze.
apparently wave 2 k is just a paddle that moves slowly up and down driven by an external motor.( key word slowly)

not sure if it displaces water compleatly or just lets flow in top while it emtpys the bottom then reverses.

for a 150 id use a tunze i think the wave 2ks are ment for slightly smaller tanks

I have personally been using two Wave2Ks in a 225 gal. The tank had been established over two years before I installed the Wave2K.

Since the Wave2 has been installed I would rate the overall improvement in health and growth in the 15-20% range. That is a hard number to come up with but the short story is that I am ordering a unit for my new 100 gal tank.

I have used Tunze units and cannot justify the difference in cost
