Saw it on a zoo last night but does not look like a nubi. It had a very hard shell. Almost look like a claim?

Another angle would help. Is the gold dome the shell?

Looks like it might be a stomatella snail. Looks a little "off" from the typical look, but that might be because it's out of the water.

Yes, it is the shell on the top. When I pulled it out it broke into 2 pieces. What I need to know is it ok?

google stomatella snail that should get some good pics for you to look at. thats what it looks like to me as well. not a happy one though. they are great for the tank. whatever it is it doesnt look harmful. try to put it in some SW in a dish, and get a pic of it opened up and moving.

Stomatella snails can release their "tail" in the same manner as lizards and for the same reason - as a predation defense mechanism. Was it the "tail" that "broke away"?
