Hey guys, I just joined the site.
I don't have a Mantis Shrimp yet, but I'm hoping on getting one soon.
I have an empty 10 gallon, and was wondering what would stay in there for life?
Also, what would I need to put in the tank other then the shrimp itself?
I know the obvious, heater, filter, etc..
but what else?

I'd say any shrimp that would stay under 4". Look at Roys List at the top of the page. I've got a 4" platysoma in a 5.5G tank, and I'll be the first to admit that it's a bit small, but then again, he never leaves his hole.

K, checked it out, and found one I liked.
Neogonodactylus wennerae.
Anyone know where I could buy one online, and get it shipped to canada?

tampabaysaltwater.com
and I do believe they ship to canada, but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.

Thanks.
It's pretty damn expensive to ship something to Canada though.
Anyone know of a dealer in Canada that would ship to Newfoundland?

Richard at TampaBaySaltwater told me he even ships N. Wenn overseas....surely Canada won't be a problem. I would check out his site and email him.

He does, but it's expensive.
150$ Customs charge, thats way too expensive for me.

Ouch. Thats rediculous.

I would suggest checking with your local reef club, but if customs charges are that high for a mantis I would hate to think what they are for rock.

150$ customs charge for everything coming into canada.
I was at 3 different Pet Stores today.
2 have never heard of a Mantis, and one has had them, but only by accident, and they're not on the list of available animals from their providers.
