How big is the clam overall?

Thanks everyone. The clam is approaching 10 inches and weights a bunch. He is almost getting too big for my little 125.

How long have you had it fishypets? How big was it when you got it?

The clam has been in my tank for about 9 months. It was small enough to fit in my shirt pocket when I first got him and now he is HUGE!! I know where most of my CA has gone.

wow, that dude grew fast. I didn't know that they grow so fast. I am getting one next week so I will see for myself. Any tips you have would be appreciated. I have a 24" deep tank with 250 watt MH also running actinic florescent. I have read that gigas don't need as much light as croceas and they like to be on the sand. Do you have yours on the sand bed?

Mine is in the sand under the center brace between 2 400W 10K bulbs. IMO keeping clams you need a CA reactor. I would say the growth rate doubled since adding a reactor.
