I have one and is doing fine but I'm having a hard time with finding an ideal way to feed him? Anything I feed him, the other fish swarm in and it scares him off, so the only way I've been able to get him to eat is to double feed so it's not so crazy. I obviously cut the amounts down but there has to be a better way.

I have a
fake perc
blue tang
foxface
and they all eat anything I put in there. Mysis shrimp, etc...

They are not picky.

Any suggestions of how and what you feed yours would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Justin

try feeding other fish then feed him with a turkey baster while the others are in a frenzy

you probably missed the step of quarantining the hawkfish. The most important part of this is getting the fish or whatever it is use to a feeding routine. My copperband doesn't have a chance when it comes to the other fish in my tank. It took me a while but now I can sort of hand feed it with a frozen chunk of mysis shrimp and a pair of tweezers. It either attacks it or waits for a shrimp to thaw off. The best way to keep finicky eaters alive is to setup a routine and stick too it. That way they know when and how to get their food once their natural food numbers decline.

Besides freeze dried shrimp, what else has anyone had good success feeding them?

I've had one for going on 4 years and he attacks formula 1 flakes just as hungrily as he does mysis shrimp. I usually feed flakes daily and the mysis about every 3rd day.
