I am going to upgrade my lights to aquatronics and am getting a new/sump refugium also, so am wondering how do you mount the ballasts under the stand. On the floor board or can they be mounted on the side of stand "inside". I am ordering a sump form Melev and am wondering how much room to allow for the ballasts inside.
Thanks, Scott

Which ballast are you using? IceCapInc.com has the specs for all of their ballasts.

Well since I have an expert posting to my question, Would 250W MH and T5 be too much for a 75 gallon, Or should I go with the 175 watt bulb and balast. I am keping clams, some LPS and SPS.

I'm not really an expert.

I went with 250 W for my 75g setup. I think the IceCap ballast is about 8x4x3, but that web page should have the data.

Anyone that posts 17000 posts is an expert in my opinion. Ok so I will go with 250W. DO I just put them on the floor board of stand or can you mount them on the side. Your guess at dimentions are right on the money. And how much heat will they dissapate to the wood stand? Fire danger?

You can put them on the floor or mount them. I would mount them or keep them out of the path of water as much as possible. The ballasts get mildly warm to the touch, so I don't think they can ignite anything. I have a 175 W sitting on the floor. My 250 W ballast is a PFO.
