so i have a 1.25" bulkhead

I plan to use this as my overflow on a 29 gallon AGA tank.

are the bottoms of AGA tanks tempered?

the inside of the bulkhead has no threads, so do i just stick the durso in there or do i need to glue it in?

also the rubber washer, im guessing that goes inside the tank?

also, when making a stand pipe, how tall in relation do the tank do you want it to sit?

i get the general idea just want to get some specifics down before i start drilling my tank and buying hings

Here's how I did a durso after drilling my 10 gallon,

Bottoms are often tempered, check with AGA.

The Durso just slides in the slip fitting, you don't want to glue it.

I found I got a better seal using the gasket on the outside.

If I do it over I'd add an overflow so there's surface skimming. The way I did it you have no way to control water height in the tank and no surface skimming.

One more thing, if you use a "street L" (which has a male end) it slides into the slip fitting and doesn't take up as much room in the tank.

Make sure you put the gasket on the same side as the flange, not the 'nut' side. Otherwise it will leak

i bought some pvc stuff to play with, ill post a pic.

have you ever thought about rotating that 90 so part of it is up on the surface, some skimming will take place then.

I plan to call a glass shop tomorrow and see if they can drill tempered glass.

also, i do plan to get an overflow built at tap plastics for the corner

here is what i have so far, i need to get a strainer for the end.

i will use 3/4" pvc and i am going to use rubber tubing to the sump to reduce noise. then the return will be rubber hosing to a plastic fitting over the top of the tank.

also, when at home depot, i couldnt find anything that would screw over the bulkheads threads, do i need to go to a specialty store that sells bulkheads to get something like htat?

Bulkheads are supposed to come with the nut I thought.

Get one of these at HD and your standpipe height will be adjustable,

well it has the nut to tighten it... but i mean something for the PVC or should i just glue the pipe inside the bulkhead on the outside?

i was under the impresstion i got some kind of fitting that screwed onto the bulkhead on the other side... maybe i just get something for the inside and glue it?

ps... your link doesnt go anywhere but to their homepage

The newer AGA 29`s are not tempered on the bottom. This link as Agu shows all the tanks that are and are not made by AGA

http://www.all-glass.com/services/index.html (http://)

Just click on the Services line on the bottom left and it will pop up the page showing it. You will then need to click on the Technical Information link on the right side...

I had my 29AGA aquarium drilled with 2 holes on the bottom about 6 mths ago.

i emailed them just to make sure, i asked about the 37 gallon tanks too which are just taller then the 29's.

im going to pay to get it drilled i think and i dont want it breaking, so im just being careful.

if i drill the return hole, should i be smaller then the drain?
