faster if you feed 'em.

My tank hates those things, I have no idea why. I had a huge rock covered with them shipped to me out of water, wrapped in wet newspaper, and an hour after putting them in my tank, they were completely open and looked great. A few weeks later, over half of them are gone or closed up....the damned things prefer a wet newspaper to my tank!

once or twice a week i like to throw a small amount of cyclopeeze into the tank. they'll quickly grab any cyclo that falls within reach. also i noticed when i moved my return so it was directly hitting the polyps, they started to spread and multiply a lot quicker... so in a nutshell, feed them and give them plenty of good flow and that'll do the trick.

cyclopeeze and any other smal. meaty bits floating around the tank from feeding fish or other corals.

Hmmm, maybe its a flow issue for me then. I read low to moderate flow, and they're probably at the low end of that.

Agreed, these guys seem to like flow and LOVE to eat. I feed mine bits of mysis, Cyclopeeze, and they catch brine and pellets when I feed the fish as well.
I keep yellow polyps in two of my tanks, the little colony in my 65g hasn't grown much but the single polyp I added to my 5.5g, which gets more regular spot feedings, has grown into 5 within a few weeks.
