View Full Version : will i be ok?
im building my new canopy and mounted the endcaps a lil to far apart for my liking if i put the bulb in and canterit between the two endcaps there is alil less then hmm no ruler around. how bout this i can fit one of the wires down between the endcap and the bulb ( wire with the plastic coating still on it)
alil over half the pin come in contact with the endcaps contacts if i push the bulb over to the opasit side
will i be ok or should i redo the endcaps . ( were talking such a small movement of the location that i could almost use the same screw holes.

You need to move the end caps closer. There should be no gaps at all. If there is, you run a great risk of arcing inside the end cap between lamp pin and end cap contacts. This will damage the end cap and also the lamps. Unfortunately you need to mount them closer together.
should hte bulb comeinto contact with the plactic of the end cap ( should it touch it or actualy push in a bit on the endcap... the end cap is spring loaded )
here are some pics of what its like now
this is when centered

so sohuld hte green touch the white. lightly or kinda pushed. i guess thats what im asking. i may only be able to move them in very little. since the distance is so small i cant move the plastic mounts but i can move the endcap itself on the plastic mount stand of .

The base of the lamp (green) needs to be flush with the end cap base, NO GAPS. You have way to big of a gap and will only cause problems. You may need to use wood filler and fill the holes and redrill for the stand offs. I know it is a hassle but better be safe than sorry. The last thing you want is damaged equipment when it can be avoided.
yupyup. and last time i ever ask some one else to help me with building anythings... especialy when his response to everything is " its good enough " blablabla im gonna see if just moving them in on the stand offwill be enough. hope it will be.
