We've got a boil order in place here, not sure why or for how long. I'm wondering if the RO part of my unit would take care of stuff to the point of not needing to boil that output for drinking water? And I'm also wondering about if it's ok to make up RO/DI water for the tank during this as well? I don't want to be putting any waste products in my tank. I figure that if it comes out 0 TDS, then it should be ok...just trying to make sure. thanks

I don't think that I would chance it Dave.

I'm not sure if bacteria are removed with a RO/DI unit. Could be a good question for Randy Holmes Farley.

I went ahead and shot an email off to airwaterice.com to see what they had to say about it.

I will test it for you, I can stand to loose 20lbs through exsplosive nutrient export.

Here's a follow up to this that I just received in response to my question to airwaterice.com:

"Yes you can drink the water straight from the ro/di during a boil
water alert. However depending on the quality of the water coming in you will burn thru your ro/di membranes quicker. We know this from personal experience here in Florida."

Since she specified "ro/di" in her response, I emailed back and asked about just RO water and she replied that yes, you could drink that, with the rest of the response to that as above.
