View Full Version : How dangerous are razor blades if left in tank?

I had to cut a baffle for a new skimmer, and when cutting the glue, a chip came out of the razor blade, 2 mm max, but im pretty sure it landed in the sand in my sump.
How worried should I be about rust and stuff, I dont really want to tear that part of the sump apart. What should I do?
Thanks,
Patrick

not good=--use your mag float cleaner magnet to locate and attract it.

im not to sure it will be horrible patrick, ive read threads about them being iron, and it would only add some iron to your tank which would be a good thing, but id try to fish it out anyway

Ever seen a shipwreck with tons of coral growing on it?
Shouldn't be a problem, but I try to keep stuff like that out of the tank. I prefer to find it & remove it

A 2mm piece is very small. I would not worry if it's 2mm. That's what like 1/220 of an inch?

if you can get it out, then do so. but if you cant i wouldn't sweat it much. rust is not always rust!!! but RowaPhos/Phosban(iron oxide) is rust
