Okay, so I bought the ASM G4X. I have a few questions for people experienced with these skimmers.

1. I’m having a hard time removing the cone for initial cleaning. I know you screw it off but its hard to get a positive grip. I feel like I’ll break it when I’m trying to remove it.

2. The uniseal that goes in the hole on the skimmer body wasn’t installed. Is that how it’s supposed to be? Seems loose to me and I’d worry that water would seep out.

3. I didn’t get the gate valve mod but what parts would I need and what size fittings.

4. Should I cement the venturi and elbow permanently onto the pump

5. It says sump skimmer but has anyone installed out of sump?

Any other tips that I didn’t ask would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

1. twist it
2. it's fine like it is unless you are running external, which is not recommended.
3. check asmskimmer.com for the parts list and instructions, but you need a gate valve and pipe of the appropriate sizes, 1.5"
4. no
5. yes, but at your own risk and with lots of silicone, rendering the skimmer harder to clean and your house prone to flooding if it leaks.

i would make it recirculating and feed it directly from your overflow
