cora life 220 skimmer question

I have the cora life 220 skimmer(the one that comes in the blue box venturi model with no pump). I just hooked up an ocean runner 3700 needlewheel pump to it and I am testing in a new sump in tap water. It is really producing large bubbles and not fine bubbles like my HOT skimmer. Could this be caused by the tap water. I have went through everything I could think of. There is only one adjustment for water level in the column. Does anyone have this skimmer?

You can only get the fine bubbles in salt water. Fresh water only produces the large bubbles. Use salt and try it out.
