Do you put in the sand in the tank first, or do you put in the saltwater in first then sand?? how does it work?

If the sand is already live you want to mix the saltwater first then add the sand. If its just bagged sand it can be either way. I prefer the sand first and cover it with a plastic bag or dinner plates or something similar then pour the water over the bag so you don't stir it up too much. Its going to get cloudy no matter what you do but don't worry it will go away. If you have friends that will give you a cup of live sand to seed it, the process goes faster and once bacteria starts to coat the sand it settles right away.

Basically a personal preference. BUT, I put the sand in first and mix the saltwater in a seperate container. That way it gets mixed completely. Just put the sand down, place a plastic (non alge/mildewcide) trash bag over it and add water. The garbage bag will keep it from getting TOO stirred up.
