painting acrylic?

hi,

i have a quick question, i am in the process of putting together a 10 gallon tank and i am building an over flow box, instead of using black acrylic(which i cannot find at my home depot or ace hardware) can i paint the back of clear acrylic black?

does it have any bad effects?

and if i can what type of paint do i use?

I just painted the outside back of a large acrylic reptile cage I built with Enamel Black and it turned out great! IF its in the water though I've read that alot of folks are using Krylon Fusion. I haven't tried it myself but I plan to in the not-so-distant future.
