legoz helped me build a canopy for my 29g today. we installed a 250w evc electronic mh retrofit kit with a mogul base evc 14k bulb. and a fan.

i should have gone mh years ago!

the look of the tank is just awesome. time to get some sps frags! i think i hear a clam calling my name, too.

over the 3 hours it ran tonight, the water temperature did not change at all. we'll see how it does over a 10 hour photoperiod tomorrow.

Im going to MH also will get them on Monday! Got the Hamilton
175 dual with 96 watt PC. Asked Horace what photo period
should be. How long are you going to run? Pics look great!
Let me know how things are going!
Thanks Dave

nice looking. you won't regret the switch. you may consider doing VHO or T5 actinic to supplement.

i thought about going with a 10k bulb and adding my previous pc ballasts with actinic bulbs to supplement, but a 29g doesn't give much footprint for additoinal bulbs. plus, pc bulbs get hot. my water temp actually rose a degre with 96w of pc; it's not changing at all with the halide and fan!

the 14k has a lot of blue in it. the green and orange in the tank just glow. i don't think i'll need supplement at this point.

you don't want PC actinic, you want VHO or T5 actinic. HUGE difference.

A MB7 doesn't have much room for lighting but I still fit a 70w MH 20K and a 32w PC actinic over it ;)
