If they are in fact nassarius as they say, yes they are safe.

Its funny an LFS I visit suddenly had a whole bunch of those. I had never seen them before, so far I've avoided buying them without knowing what they are.

I have them and they are technically not nassarius, as Fishmore25 stated. They are from cooler waters as there was big discussion on other forums on these snails. But the are harmless and so far they only eat left over food, and don't touch any algea from my observation.

I bought a bunch on Ebay, 150 snails for $13. All arrived in good condition, and quickly burried into the sand. Similar to the articles I've read stating that they are cold water and won't last long, they lasted about 2 months and then started dying off at a rapid pace. 3 mos later there are none left.

I have them.... and they're eye sores. They pretty much only eat left over food and the tangs seaweed.

They make good shells/food for the hermit crabs though.
