View Full Version : Tiny Little Aiptasia Outbreak?

I have a three month old reef tank, light bioload, excellent water parameters with little to none nuisance algae.

Lately I've noticed these very, very small creatures dotting the sides of my tank. Not pods or anything similar. These things are small, 1-2 mm glassy (too small for a picture), translucent organisms attached to the glass with a single base and then 4-6 little wavey arms.

My only guess is Aiptasia???.... and lots of them. Any other ideas? Nothing seems to be growing on my rock (yet?). I scrape them off, only to return the next day. I probably have 100 or so lining my tank.

Probably not much else to do yet, other than keep manually removing, light feedig and push nutrient export.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Pretty much harmless and will not last very long

My cleaner shrimp has been acting subdued. Not wanting to eat out of my hand as usual. I wonder if he has a stomach ache from trying to eat some of these little nasties?
I've been researching hydroids. They seem like mainly a nuisance. I'll try vacuuming some off at my next water change.
