Quick Question

Might be a noob question...2 nights ago i bought some live rock from a private party and the rock is already fully cured and in my tank. But if i buy some from the lfs that is not cured is that fine? I know i will have to cycle but idk if it is okay to do this or not. help appreciated

If there is livestock in the tank: No
If there is no live stock in the tank: OK

Anytime you add more LR to the system, you will most likely have at least a quick cycle....especially with uncured LR.

As long as you don't have anything in the tank that would not tolerate the tank cycling like fish/inverts it should be great!

Yup, so long as there is nothing alive in the tank (meaning corals, fish, etc.) AND you're okay with introducing nothing live to the tank for at least a couple of weeks (until the cycle is complete), then go for it.

Otherwise, keep looking around for fully-cured rock from another hobbyist.
