Ok, I know I could go to the lighting forum. But, I always get great help from you all. I've decided I'm gonna set up my 29 gal. I wanna get into SPS. I plan to move my FW fish to a larger tank. So, I'm left with this stand and canopy....

I've got someone who is gonna sale me one of those aqualight 150 HQI clip on lights. But, I don't know if I wanna use that. I'm kind of liking those sunpods. Was thinking of getting the 30" 150 watt. But, I cant put that in my canopy. My canopy maybe not high enough to put a halide in it. The canopy is 7" tall (inside measurement from rim of tank to lid). Those Sunpods come with legs that only raise the light 3" from top. Seen people with it in other threads and say no heat issues. So, what suggestions do y'all have? Theres no way to get a hanging pendant not unless I make a frame. Ceiling is over 10ft high, so dont want nothin hangin from that height. One of my ideas is either the 24"150 watt sunpod or another 150 watt black pendant. Cut a square in the top of the lid, sit the pendant on that, would raise it 8-9" from the surface, then the extra space inside the lid, get some actinic PCs or VHO retro. Does that sound right, or would actinics be needed?

Thanks,
Steve

Look into the Coralife Aqualight Pro retros.
They are 150 w HQI retros with moonlights, actinic PC bulbs and fan. They are only 3" tall and will screw to your canopy top.
They are 15" wide so modification would need to be done to make it fit.

I was thinking of goin' with this. Figured I could cut a rectangle in the lid of my canopy and sit the pendant on that. That would put it 8-9" from the top. Does that sound ok?

I decided I'm gonna order this. It's about $290 shipped. But, what bulb should I get....15000k or 20000k?
