I bought some super glue gel at the hardware store. I was arranging my rocks and trying to stick them together. No luck... I tried it in water and out of water. Held them together for a while to get it to hold. Nothing. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Valerie

Valerie, super glue won't do a good job of holding rock together, it's usually used to mount frags. You should try using a two part epoxy to glue rocks together.

The Home Depot stuff is made by Oatey, and is called Epoxy Putty. Plumbers putty for most people.

if you use that stuff, will you ever be able to separate the rocks again? i ask because i'm still trying to figure out how to secure small corals i get that i may want to move later as i continue to stock my tank.

Depends on how much you use, but I have found that you can easily remove it most of the time. If you press the stuff into small holes, cracks, it makes it harder, but it can be done.

Lol, I feel like a big newbie! Okay, thanks for the info. One more question. My husband is a plumber. He has plumber's putty - will that work? Are there certain types I should look out for? Thanks in advance.

Just make sure its safe for people. I use the HD stuff without any issues.

There are certain types that you don't want to use, I don't remember the chemical that you need to watch for. Some plumbers putty is like silly putty and stays soft, the epoxy type will harden up in minutes.

I'm pretty sure all the stuff I've seen like that contains some sort of a warning label...
