Hey Folks,

Heads UP !!! On Saturday May 20th MASLAC will be having it's first
ever Aquarium Recycling fundraiser.

That's right, all that extra equipment that you have laying around,
that you will never use.... Well it's time to get rid of it and buy
someone else's stuff to bring home.

Bring tanks, lights, pumps, filters, nets, books... You can also
bring unwanted fish, plants, corals, rock, sand.

Everything goes up for auction on Saturday afternoon. The proceeds
go to MASLAC.

Do you have something brand new, or a high end item, that needs a
new home, but you don't want to give away? Well subject to the
discretion of the auctioneer, brand new items or High $ Value items,
will be auctioned off with the sale price being split 50/50 with the
donator and MASLAC.

MASLAC will be offerring complimentary food and beverages for all
club members, and anyone participating in the recycling auction.

This event is open to anyone interested in participating.
You do not have to be a MASLAC member to attend.

Payment is due at the time of the auction. Payment can be made as
check / cash or Paypal.

So start setting aside a pile of all that stuff you know you are
never going to use on your tank. Then on Saturday May 20th, you can
buy someone elses unwanted stuff... think of all the fun projects
you could end up having for the Memorial Weekend.

The auction and BBQ will be held at Dave B's house in Encino. Time
will be announced shortly

Any questions - Post to the MASLAC Yahoo group or email a MASLAC
board member.

I would like to see people listing a few things that they are bringing to this auction, I know that there will be quite a few tanks. I'm bringing a 35 gallon tall, with stand and hood.

Incase you didn't attend the meeting last night, we made a decision on the Aquarium Recycling fundraiser. Here is the announcement from the President, Scott Fellman:

Hi Everyone:

I hope everyone has had fun at our MASLAC events so far this year.
It's hard to believe that we're at the halfway point of the year
already! Thanks to all members who have participated!

The Board was pretty excited that the idea of the MASLAC "Garage
Sale" was well received by the membership. However, after we did an
informal count at last night's meeting about how many people planned
on attending, we felt that the turnout would be a bit lighter than
we'd like to make this a fun and successful event.

Therefore, we made the decision to postpone the event for a while.
Notice I used the word "postpone" and not "cancel"! We still very
much want to have this event at a future date, probably later in the
summer, or even towards the fall. We realize that there are lots of
family, entertainment and hobby options this time of year, so we felt
that it might be better to reschedule this at a time of the year
that's a little less hectic for everyone.

This will give the club ample time to REALLY plug the event, and
sufficient time for everyone to search through their garages for
items that could be placed in the auction! In the mean time, we are
planning on some other events that will definitely be unique and FUN
for every member!

Thanks again for all your support so far this year! The second half
of the year should be even more fun and exciting than the first, with
some great speakers, events, and workshops in the wings. As I like to
say, "There's a lot going on at MASLAC, so be part of it!"

Regards,

Scott Fellman
President

A lot of us were Chuck! It just seemed to be the wrong time so it's been postponed for a month or two.
