White Strings? Hurry Please

My brown fuzzy mushrooms expelled these white strings. They didn't come from the mouth, but it looks like the strings are coming from the tips of the frilly parts. What are they? I just changed some of the water...

Do you have a picture? The mushroom could have been damaged and the innards are coming out there. It might also be excess mucous that just happen to be trailing off the vesicles.

it's wierd....the strings went away

mine do it all the time. it could have been attacked or bothered by something. if you touch it too hard it will do the same. its the same sort of response as a sea cucumber expelling its guts but not as toxic. it doesn't affect it as far as i can see.

you're right because i sprayed it with a jet of water from a turkey baster ((there was sand on it))
