setting up a 180g system (120g, 20g, 20g, 20g Sump).

Since nothings in it yet, any problem with adding water, dumping in the salt and letting it run for 2 days?

Assuming there is nothing else in the tank, it should be fine. (since I just learned how to read, I see that the tank is empty ;) )
Just make sure you have enough water movement to mix it all.

The only thing to remember is that is that is easier to add more salt, as opposed to remove it.

As long as by "nothing" you really mean nothing at all living -- no live rock, live sand or anything that may be harmed by the fresh water. If it's really bare or just has a dead substrate/ornamental rock it won't hurt anything.

It would be water and nothing else. I figured I would hook the whole thing up, put water in and see if it leaks, and if not, then put the salt in and when it's happily mixed, then add the dead sand and then live sand and finally live rock.

Than that sounds like a good plan. Yea, leak test with fresh water, no need to waste salt if there is a leak.

thats how i did it :D. just add the salt slowly. like mentioned before its much easier to increase the SG than to lower it. another thing that will help is to add the heater. salt disolves much easier with warm water.

be sure to update with some pics!! if you have a camera :D.

Mix it in the tank, at the temperature you'll ultimately want the tank (SG varies with temperature, albeit only slightly). Definitely add slowly -- I had to reduce the SG in my 125 from 1.030 to 1.025 because I mixed it wrong, and that took some doing (and some wasted saltwater).

Ya what ever you do dont add to much salt. I just got my new tank I add way to much salt and it is a reall pain to get rid of it. I had mine up to 1.040 and it is really hard to get it down.

I've been adding IO at 2.5 lbs for 5 gallons and it comes in at just about 1.024. I'm planning on adding the first load in at about 2.3/5 gallons, and then increase from there.

Just remember also to not really try adjusting overflows, durso's, etc with just the fresh water, it will change once you add the salt.
