I was wondering what companies carry these strainers. Also if anyone has used them for their CL then is this a slip or threaded?

Let me know if you find them. I'd love to mount something like this on my bulkhead fittings.

another question, they are listed 1 1/2" 2" and 3" does that mean they will thread on that size bulkhead?

Bulkheads outer threads are for the bulkhead nut only (you will not be able to thread this onto the bulkhead directly)... you will have to connect to the inner threads via some type of adapter (since both the bulkhead and your strainer have female threads)--- if you over size the strainer in relation to the bulkhead you can adapt between sizes--

cool, since i'm such a noob with this stuff, could anyone point me to the adapters :(

A close nipple is as short as any one size gets--- different lengths based on the pipe diamter...

This would be what you would use to adapt to a slip fitting bulkhead..

If going between sizes... use a nipple and a reducing bushing.. (these are threaded but are also available as slip)

Some of these fittings might be hard to find locally-- PVC threaded mainly--- PVC slip should be real ez to find at most home improvement stores...and slip to threaded adapters also... I would make it removable so if you use slip fittings, don't glue them... you want to be able to take it apart to clean IMO...

I bought these same Strainers locally at Northern Tools, they also had a nipple that was threaded on both sides, so I cut it in the middle and it fit perfectly into the bulkhead.
