Mine appears to be working. I am going through some exostive testing/diagnosticsMine appears to be working. I am going through some exhaustive testing/diagnostics right now and no problems have shown up. My cabling is Controller -> isolation module -> 30 feet of Cat 5 cable -> serial 2 USB -> computer.

I've been using USB to serial adapters for quite sometime now and they have been very reliable.

Are they going to start making these USB instead of serial? Many newer computers do not have a serial port.

The problem with USB is the short cable length. For this reason it is not an attractive interface. USB to serial adapter are very inexpensive (I've seen them as low as $6.00).
