I have a 130W power compact hood on my tank, that uses 2-65W bulbs. I just bought a couple replacement bulbs, not noticing when I purchased them that the box said 55/65W. Can anyone tell me what this means? I'm not decreasing my lighting by 20W by using these bulbs, am I?

The actual output of these 55/65W bulbs will be determined by the type of ballast in the system. Newer generation electronic ballast should produce 65W of output, while some of the older styles (used in All-Glass stips, etc) will only produce 55W of output. Most bulb manufacturers just marked their bulbs 65W to "market" them better.
