I wanna know the good and the bad..I just got a Gamma UV with the hope it will control my hair algae and ich problems. I know it's just a piece of the puzzle but it if it's had an impact please let me know.

I've had one for years and its always done me good. Not a single problem with ich and I have a heavy bioload. Zero algae...but I believe that my phosphate reactors are to be praised for that.

My 40 watt gamma saved my fish. i had ich so bad it was disgusting, then i got it, did lots of water changes and everything got better. water is super clear too!

I have a Twist 3x. My water cleared up real fast. My water is crystal clear after only 90 days. It certainly was a piece of the puzzle.

That's really encouraging...now I'm glad I made the investment. :)

I hate to tell you, but IMO on a 120g tank I dont think that a 15 watt is big enough. It will probably help with clarity but if youre trying to deal with ich than I would suggest at least the 25 watt model. ON my 125g I have a 40 watter.

If you are doing this to control ICH, you are wasting your time entirely..

A lot has been done in this regard and it is shown that the parasite is unlikely to travel through the device in the first place. Secondly parasites that do make the journey are likely not going to spend enough time there to be eradicated. ICH control as stated above is best done via quarantine and good husbandry.

Also if this is going on a "Reef" tank, I would think about it first. As many reef inhabitants feed on plankton and other micro organisms, you would likely be better served letting them float around the tank to be eaten instead of "nuked" out of existence :)

The preceding is just my opinion and your mileage may vary
