View Full Version : Salt Group Order anyone?

OK. Here's how this will work. Everyone wishing to participate in this group order will need to PM me with their preferred brand (I'm assuming here it's gonna be mostly Oceanic and IO). Once I get a complete list (brand and number pails) I'll forward it to our sponsors so they can work up a price for the salt order. Sound like a plan? I'm assuming this will also break down regionally so we may go all with one sponsor or possibly split the difference. I'll have to figure that one out.
So here we go and yall send me your requests!

You having some problems with the one you use now?

Nope...just like to see what this one is like. I use Oceanic now...never had a problem...I used IO before that and never had a problem with it either.

Wouldn't life be boring if we never tried new things!?.

Never had a problem, well that's the perfect time to make some changes.
Maybe you'll get lucky and have one.

looks like we let Rendos go first.....if nothing dies, then the Seachem salt might be safe for my tank!!

Let me ask a stupid question. Is one supposed to be better than the others or is it mostly personal preference? I have been using Instant Ocean for a long time now and it seems to be fine butt now you have me questioning, is there something I’m missing?

What up?

IO runs low on both CA and Mag. (one bucket I had was testing at 275 Ca)
Oceanic runs low on Alk, but is very high on Mag and CA.
Seachem uses Borate for a buffer(which theres lots of opinions about it being good) but is lower on CA and Mag than Seachem.
With me its about not having to add lots of stuff to the salt I just made. Im using Oceanic now because Alk is cheap to add, but Im curious about the buffering capabilities of Seachem.

Wow! Thanks for the info Boofer. In that case, I think I will stick with my IO.

Thanks

Since I have been using the Seachem Reef salt, my ph stays
at 8.4 Of course my tank is only a 40gal.-My wife and I top off
with RO (1-2gallons) every other
day. Yet the ph stays at 8.4- I don't add any Alk. I just add Seachem liquid calcium every other day. Everything seems to be happy in the tank. I'm not saying that I prefer or just have to use this brand....I just don't have to add a lot of trace elements.

That should be, the CA and Mag in Seachem is lower than Oceanic

OK, so we're getting a respectable amount of requests here. I would like to try and wrap this up by next Friday so I can let the sponsors work their magic. Thanks everyone and keep 'em coming.

My dad sells thousands of tons of salt, mag cloride and other chemicals to a lot of public aquariums and commerical aquaculture operations.

No mam' but I do have prices. I'm only waiting to see if Craig replys. I'll be PMing everyone interested prices. And From what I'm looking at, you'll be nuts not to get in on this! So if anyone in the club is thinking about it but not sure...PM me and i'll shoot you a price.

I have just e-mailed everyone on the club mailing list. If you did not recieve an e-mail please PM me and include your e-mail so I can add it to the mailing list. I don't think Reef Central will allow me to post the prices here so just to be safe and not get the thread closed, PM me.
Next Up, Lighting!
Thanks everyone,

Alright everyone. Heres how were gonna do this. Everyone pays up-front and the order will be placed. When it arrives i'll move it to my house and thats where it will be picked up. I'll keep "receipts" for the Paypal people and notes on everyone else. The PayPal will get special treatment because of the additional fee to cover the transaction fee they charge. All orders not picked up after one month (meaning no contact at all) will be forefit and will become prizes at the next club meeting. Sound fair? I've got no problem holding onto your salt for you, just give me a call and an idea on when you'll pick it up. And thats it yall. I'll be at the meeting saturday for a couple hours but will have to leave early for a "going away party." I'll be happy to take money at the meeting. Just make sure you have exact change.
Thanks again,
B

Alright Everyone. Salts coming in today! I'll be picking it up after work so come to my house. DO NOT GOTO KERMIT'S TO PICK-UP SALT! Dave will not hand out salt and neither will his employees. He ordered it and thats as far as his responsibility goes. I should be at home by 5PM. If you have a truck and would like to help move the salt then feel free to contact me. Its about a half a ton of salt to move.
Thanks everyone!

Side note, I had to move it twice. Into my car and back out again.
