I had a 20 gal long FW setup until now. I replaced the 20 long with a 37 which is yet to be filled with water for a reef setup. I am not sure wether the stand will hold a 37 gal. THe lfs I go to now says as long as it is a stand manufactured by an aquarium company, it will hold the tank; when the sompany builds a stand, they build it for any tank that may go on it. The lfs that told me this is not the same as the one that originally sold me the stand. The way I see it, if the lfs said it will be fine, and did not pressure me into buying another one, it should be fine. What do you guys think, will the stand hold up?

what is the stand? even cinder blocks and some 2x4s will hold a 100g tank so if what you have is halfway decient then you shhould be fine

would it help if I posted pictures? The stand looks nice, so I assume that it isn't just some pieces of scrap wood held together with some chewing gum. Are there any particular pieces that I could photograph?

You can always adda 2x4 under the stand for extra support if that would make you feel better..

Yes, take some of the joints/corners and where it's screwed, from behind and what ever you think would be helpful.

metal L/corner brackets work well for added support too :)

They look like this:

but they come in different sizes. I think they also go by angle brackets.

would I just screw those where the wood holding the tank is? (top corners basically)

Yup, on the inside of the frame corner out of view. Here's a pic from a drywall type install:

The tank is now full of water and rock, and seems to be doing very well. Thanks :D
