Hi all, i have a 3ft 50gal reef tank with a 3-4 inch DSB and lots of LR. Should i use a burnt sausage cucumber or a sand sifting gobby to keep my DSB clean?
If a gobby is better, which type should i get.

barred bullet goby...hands down a great sand sifter. stays small too! diamonds are just as effiecient but they hide more and get large.

I have a Sleeper Banded Goby that does a great job on my 240. It also did a great job in my 29 gallon, but all sand sifting gobies can be messy (dropping sand everywhere, etc.).

I would go with a sand sifting cuke, gobies (IMO) make too much of a mess.

Not only that but gobies will wipe out an important element to long lived DSB, and that is the microfauna population while the cuke will only eat poop, algea, ect. .

Isn't there the possibilty of the Cuke Nuking the tank though? At least with the Goby you have no worries about that.

I have 5 neon blue engineer gobies and they do a great job going through the sand. They look like little eels are are cool to watch work!
