I've just got a DIY refugium done. Now what am I supposed to put in it. What kinda substrate? Plants? Critters?

I have sand/rubble bottom. A couple of Mangrove trees and a ton of chaeto.

Just remember If you build it..... They will come.... (copepods & amiphods)

We put sand, live sand, some chaeto (macroalgae), and a bunch of live rock rubble in our refugium. Some people have told me that you shouldn't put critters in your refugium, but I put in just a couple hermits and a single snail to help keep things a little tidy in there (it's a 20 g refugium).

What about lighting? Do you have to put a light on a fuge??

Yea, something along the lines of 6700K or 7100K i think. I may be wrong... My refugium is a 10 gallon, so it's 20" long. I've been looking for lighting options.
