View Full Version : Does a Ca Reactor require a dedicated pump?

Planning for the future. Was wondering if one pump could be used to supply a Ca Reactor and the Refugium?
Obviously it would have to be big enough to handle both demands and have gating to fine tune flow.
Am I missing something that would make this a bad move?

thanks

Should be doable for the feed pump - but not sure if it is worth the hassle. Most people just use a powerhead for the supply feed to the calcium reactor (I use a MaxiJet 1200). You also need a recirculation pump for the reactor to circulate the water within the reactor so the CO2 gets mixed up.

Thanks for the replies on this. If I can make it all happen with one
external pump I like that idea.
Would sending water to the Ca Reactor cause back pressure on the pump?
