Thanks guys light are coming today and hope the skimmer is coming soon. So i will post pics tonight of me installing it.
I don't think the tank is going to have a cycle i move all the sand in my 20 with it and also about 15 gallons of the water. It has a small spike in ammonia but i think it is about ready for some live stock!!!!! :-)
any one have any ideas on how to silence the bulkheads down??
brian@sen
05/18/2006, 01:49 PM
There is a thread on RC about silencing overflows and from what I understand from it they would put gate valves on the ends of the over flows and restrict just enough of the flow to prevent it from sucking air in the top but not enough to make the tank overflow. The system still flows as much water as your pump puts out but the tank level stays just a little higher. Several people were skeptical about blockages and constant tuning but just as many would come back and say they would do nothing to theirs for months and have no problems. Here is the link to the thread you can read it and decide for yourself. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=344892

I think restricting the outflow is a poor idea. Just turn down the inflow from your pump.
Look up "Dorso Stand Pipe". It is a design that more or less takes the water from below the surface and avoids the gurgling that is associated with open top exit pipes.

2 maroon clowns and 2 orange clowns...
That's prob not going to work so good in a small tank Nate, maybe a 72" tank but I wouldnt even try that myself. I would pick one or the other in this case the choice is easy-Gold Strip Maroons. Get a pair and they are awesome to watch.

Tank is doiing great everything reading 0
Clown goby is doing fine as well and eating like a pig.
I was worried about a heat problem with the 12 hour mh light cycle and a 250 watt bulb over a 29 gallon reef. The tank has been averaging about 77.7 at 11 at night which is about 1 hour before the light goes off. So i don't think im going to have any problems.
The one thing I have noticed is its evaporating about 1.5 gallons of water a day!!! I think that is alot for a 29G !!! What do you think????

I went to the exotic jungle today and man that place has really gone to hell but any was they had some good rock in it was 7.00lb but good stuff. The empolyee told me it was what was left over after they broke down the big tank it was small peices of tonga.
I was looking in the rock tanks and i saw a peice that was covered it green star. I know they had it in ther because it came in on there coral shipment or somthing. And they had no where else to put it.
The guy had no clue what was going on lol i was like how much for that peice lol he was like 7.00/lb lol I took it and a rock covered in about 70 zoas for 7.00/lb lol
I could not belive he sold them to me as live rock lol Well made out like a bandit any way lol i almost feel bad about this almost lol ;-)
They don't look to good because they only had one strip light over them but i think they will color right back up !!!!! I can't wait to see what color they turn!!!!
So thats 7.00 for a massive colony of GSP and 70 differnt zoas lol they totaled about 1 lb in weight lol It was atleast 80 dollars worth of coral!!!!!!
