Hy Goby,
thanks for comment. I guess that the first Suncolor EVO will reach US soon. But we are still working at UL approval so I can't give you more detail on when it will be release to your market.
But we are working hard on this.
The light is made to simulate the variation of the light color during the day, from early morning to the late night. It has four "subtraction filters" that change the color of the light. these are not just "color filters" but they subtract the colors. There is a lot of electronic inside and a timer through wich you can program the light so that you can change the duration of each phase and all the parameters.
I hope Jesse can post here soon and explain you better about its functionality seen that my English is not so good to give you all the details.

Cosi Bello! (did i say that right)
Just a few questions ...
- Is that the 120XL in red?
- If I want full frame doors like that, will it fit over my current 120XL stand and can I get it in wenge?
- How did you achieve the black back, I'm trying to figure out a solution to my clear back
- What light combination do you have above the tank? Bulbs & tubes & kelvin ratings? It is a fantastic combination!
- In the Skimmers & Reactors picture, what is between the NS1000 & REA?
- Can your designer come work on my next business? ;-)

Hallo Fliger.
You make me proud of the hard job done there. Your Italian is perfect! So:
1) Yes, that is the 120XL. For the fair we have shown the big full frame doors. If you look carefully they are also thicker than standard doors. Of course you can have them, I'll check tomorrow the possibility to send to Jesse (on our next delivery) some samples of a new materials (you can touch and feel the lines in the wood). It is very nice, you must see it before changing the ones you have.
2) we paint it with a water color varnish. I think you can get it there. If not, again, I'll provide to send to Jesse a "special box" for you. Shall I add some Parmigiano too? :)
3) The lights are our Spectra combined with Actinic blue light. In each Planet you can have up to 4 T5 39 watts which make a lot of light
4) It is just the REA120 connected as a Fluidized bed. You can do with any of our reactors simply connecting it properly.
5) I think you can find a lot of good designers even there! We simply try to give something nice and New where other think that an aquarium is just a glass box over a black box and a bunch of equipment!

Thank you Nick. Let me chew on all that for a while and I'll get with Jesse in a few weeks.
No need for Parmigiano, but if you could send about 10 pounds of prosciutto, I would appreciate it. I look forward to our next trip to Italy and visiting some of your stores. My wife bugs me every day that she wants to go back to Como!

Nick,
Thanks for all the great photos and for help with the Calcium reactor, it is running perfectly now. I'm very interested in the new 4000 skimmer, I don't suppose you have a few more photos of it. I also like the shallow tank that you have the skimmer in, it would make a perfect frag tank.
Thank again,
Jim

Hallo Jim,
nice to read that the calcium reactor woks fine now. Play with it and I'm sure, even if it is not big in dimension, you'll have more than enough calcium coming out from it :)
For the picture of the new NS4000, today I'll take some closed details and I'll post here.
Have a nice day (night?) there.

I have some photos to share, as well. Thanks Nick for adding the photos while I was relaxing. Liz and I had a great time at the show but we really needed to relax before we came back. Anyways, I will post a few pictures now. As usual, enjoy and let me know if you have any questions. Jesse

Here is a picture of a 120xl being controlled by our Biotopus II. In the background you can see some of the different colors available on the planet II lighting. You can also see the reflectors of some of the lights. On the bottom right hand corner is a model that I found very interesting. A 2x150 with a blue 70w hqi in the middle! On the shelf you can see some of our test kits and additives for both freshwater and marine.

This a new line of additives that was introduced at the show. This line was in response to customers who wanted Elos quality at a lower price. The result was a complete marine line of additives that is easy to use, very high quality and at a lower price than our Expert line additives.

Here is a picture of 2 display tanks that got a ton of attention. In this picture you can see the side of the Suncolor Evo that attracted the most attention because we had the light set to quickly run through the different "scenes". I can't tell you how many people walked by noticed this and then tried to figure this light out. the idea is very simple but the results are amazing. Watching an hqi fixture go through all these different colors is very cool. The farther tank is another 120xl with 2 planet 2x250 with a total of 8-39w t5's and ferrari red doors. I had a chance to visit the store that was responsible for this display and his store was equally as impressive. It is impossible to see on this picture but this tank has the water movement kit that slides on the overflow and hides 2-1260 eheim pumps for flow.

To officially derail this thread a picture of us after the show. We ordered the small beers and this is what they served us. This is the only picture I have out of the hundreds of us all together. This is really a great group to work with and more importantly to be drunk around. If there is ever mention of a certain joke that was said at this particular dinner, I have no comment. Chalk it up to evil German beer.

The Suncolor Evo is cool. So its made to emulate the light cycle on the reef? Are there any pictures of the underside, to see how its done? Are the Kelvin ratings for the multiple settings? Very cool technology.
Why is it that pictures I see of Interzoo always have well dress, clean shaved people - with the occasional hot mama, and fish shows in the US are filled with nerds with pocket protectors? ;-)
p.s. - I blame almost ALL my bad decisions on German beer.

Blame?... I credit German beer with most of my good decisions...

Fliger the light settings can be set by the controller built in to the Evo. At the show we set it to run through the many different colors and you would never do this at home. The poor fish in that tank went from dusk to dawn every 5 minutes. The pictures we posted only show a few of the colors but imagine all the variations in between the pictures posted. It is very hard to take pictures of the underside but I watched a million people try at Interzoo:)
As for the German beer. Well I miss it already! It was the first time Liz went with me to Germany and I kept telling her the beer was better and she didn't believe it until now. I am not a big drinker but when I am there I make up for it. I don't know if it is true but I heard that some "non-german" beer is the sponsor for the world cup next month. If that is true I would start a riot if I was travelling to Germany for the event. Can you imagine going to a world cup game in Germany and paying for a Bud?

Are you able to dial in a certain color temperture that you like and just run it at that color?
elosusa
05/26/2006, 11:27 PM
You could set it to one "scene" and leave it there. There is no reading for the Kelvin rating on the computer so you couldn't set it to a specific kelvin rating. On another note, I did use the lux meter on the bio to see what the changing settings did to light intensity. i have a video of it and I will try to add it to a thread here.

The stands all seem kind of short. Are they 32 inches tall or something? Every picture I see, people are slouching, bending down to look. Unless you stop the flow, you really can't look from above either. Is there a reason for this? Maybe so you can sit in a chair and look?
Does ELOS have stands that are something at least 36" or even 48" tall?

The stands are little over 31" and this is common for modern designed furniture. We can make taller stands but this would be a custom order. When I got my tanks set up and see the water movement and the different colors from the top and the side I actually prefer this size stand. Sitting and enjoying the tank is obviously nice, as well. Hope that helps.
