Yep, read all those threads already.

Anybody that's been using these for a while now have any updates? Are they still running well?

How many pumps would be needed for a 5 ft. long tank?

Thanks

I got my Vortech the second week they were out. I had all the initial bugs. Both pumps froze due to the material used in the driveshafts. Ecotech really stepped up and sent out new shafts(new material) to everyone whether they had froze or not.

Unfortunately my drivers got damaged when the pumps froze. Ecotech sent me 2 new ones overnight. These new drivers have several improvements. These fixed all my issues with the old drivers. I can't say enough about their customer service.

I have been up and running for over a week now and the pumps are working great. I am using them on the AC jr wavemaker function. Lots of nice high random gentle flow. The undertow is keeping my sand clean. When my shrimp goby and pistol shrimp decide to build a new burrow it kicks up all sorts of detritus. Its fun to see how the flow from the Vortechs moves that around.

In a quiet room 6 feet away you can hear the hum from a pump at 100%. A pump at 50-60% you need to be within 3 feet to hear. Honestly the noise from the room fan etc usually drowns them out. My Tunzer osmolator makes far more noise when its topping off.

HTH,
Phil
