propagating elephant ear shrooms

Has any tried cutting up their elephant ear shrooms to prop them. I've done it with all my other shrooms and it works fine but I've got an awesome elephant ear I'm kinda hesitant to test this on.

done it once with a razor blade. cut right down the middle like a regular mushroom. took longer to recover but both pieces were fine.
