I am trying to figure out what pump to buy for a closed loop on a 37 gallon oceanic. Measurements are 24.5 length 18.5 width. I want to be able to have a variety of corals plus a clam. I figure I need about 30x flow which is about 1110 gph. What pump would you recommend? Thanks for helping.

I personally like the Quiet One pumps and currently am using three. One being the Quiet One 6000 for my closed loop.
The main reason I like them is they dont cost an arm and a leg, the wattage to run them is lower then most, and the can be run externally as some pumps cant. They are quiet, and dont run hot.

You could do the Quiet one 4000 which will put out 1017 GPH and only use 50 watts. The max head on it is 10 feet. This pump goes for $ 58.99

Thenext size up from that for you to get your desired 1110 GPH would be the Quiet One 6000 which puts out 1506 GPH and uses 140 watts to run, with a max head at 12 feet.
That goes for $92.99. You could aslo put a ball valve in line to get your desired flow with no ill effects.

Here is the link to these pumps and info.http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=9849&N=2004+113041

Thanks alot for the reply. I have considered the Quiet One but have read so many post that say they have trouble with them. I may just give it a try though.
