I started with one green hairy shroom and now I have 6. Is there any way to detach them from a rock without killing them. I will be moving everything to a new aquarium soon and I Am not sure that the aquascaping is going to be conducive to their living. Any thoughts????

it happened on my tank also. Green Hairy mushroom is kinda aggressive to other softies.

How long did it take 1 mushroom to multiply to 6?

Best way is to take the rock out of the tank so they close up. (and boy do they stink!!) Take a hammer and a chisel and tap underneath them at an angle to break off the top layer of the rock that they are attached to. That makes them easy to mount in a new tank (if anyone wants them). and prevents damage to the mushroom. Sometimes you have to break off several small chunks so you are left with a shroom holding on some rubble. Don't leave any behind or you will have more.
They get huge! Good luck.

you could also use a dremel tool if you have one instead of a hammer and chisel. it cuts through the rock like butter.
