View Full Version : Need help from Seio owners

Hey, would any of you Seio owners be kind enough to give me the power details of the unit (usually on a sticker or on the box). I need to know if the Seios can run on 240v supplies without a transformer (will say something like input: 120/240v) and if they can run at 50Hz as well as 60Hz.

Thanks a lot! :D

:( Anyone?

I could not find anywhere that it says it's 240v compatible, sorry. 50hz should not be a problem, the pump will just turn a little bit slower.

That is my main concern. An estimate is that the difference in frequency will mean the pump will only run at 6250lph if output is proportional to pump speed. The difference between 50 and 60 Hz is 5/8ths of the motors efficiency

Thanks for reply

I believe that a/c motors do turn proportional to the frequency. This is not to say that frequency is directly proportional to pump output. If people aren't using Seios in the UK, what are they using?

We are using them. 2600s are $75 in the US and $198 over here!

wow... any way I can help you buy em at our price and ship em over? or do you have ridiculous import duties like the US does? So you have to get a converter to 120/60hz to run them, or what? I got my 2600 for like $68 too ;) .

Well I need to step the UK voltage down from 240 to 110, then buy a US to UK prong adapter then try and sort out the frequency. That will still probably work out cheaper...

I am going to see family in the US soon so I will buy them then! Yeah our duties are probably worse than the US and I would expect to pay the price I paid for them again in duty, but thanks for the kind offer!

Actually.. I'd say if you wanted to buy a Seio 2600 in a store it'd probably be about $198. Only way to get ~$70 is to order em online and ship it to your relatives :) .

Yup that's what I plan on doing either from Home Depot or Jackie Aquatics or something I cant remember! Just hope your airport security don't shoot me

lol. shoot you for the seio? or cuz it's the US? ;) Home Depot sells Seios?? The cheapest prices I've found are from livequaria.com and hellolights.com

Sorry, I meant Marine Depot. I can imagine my luck with the Seios being detected in my luggage and them thinking its something its not! Hopefully I wont have to pay duty by bringing them over myself. I know there is apparently a limit by the british government where goods can only addup to the value of £147 before they add a duty. God save the queen :s

TUNZE 6060 £91 ($164 thereabouts)
TUNZE 6200 £321 ($578 thereabouts)

http://www.paraquatics.co.uk/paraquatics%20online.html Tho you can probably find them a little cheaper

Bargain huh!

If you're gonna pay $100+ for the SEIOS, just order the Tunzes.

Seio 2600 ($75) + Transformer £15 = £56 and that is for 10,000 lph

TUNZE 6060 is 6000lph is £35 more! So with four pumps I can either have:

40,000 lph SEIO

or 36,000 lph TUNZE which will cost me £210 more!
