Hello Randy.....

During the hot months were I live my tank is evaporating 7 - 8 gallons per day in my 265 reef tank..... I have all my top off water passing through a Kalk reactor.....

I am stirring the reactor two times a day... 1 minute each time....

However can I overdose my system with Kalk????

I know I am not Randy, but I will say that it is possible to over dose the Kalk. This is just from personal experience. Too much kalk got added over the course of a day, the pH went through the roof and kill quite a bit of my livestock. I don't know if 7-8 gallons into a 265 is going to do it or not. My recomendation would be to do what I did. I t'd off my incoming RO line. One I sent straight to the tank and the other line I passed through the Kalk reactor. I put a ball valve inline on the line going to the reactor. I have mine set to about 1/4 or less open. This means with every time my auto top off going, mainly RO get put in with just enough kalk to keep my pH where I want it.

I would say the most important thing to do it when you first set it up, monitor it very closely with a pH meter to make sure that nothing it going wrong, and if something is you can fix the problem long before it becomes a real problem.

Are you asking how to avoid overdosing?

If the pH or alkalinity get too high, suggesting that you are adding too much, then back off on the stirring frequency and/or time.
