In my 2.5 I have about 3 pounds of rock for filtration but i want something to keep the clean sparking. So i was thinking about running a canister filter. What would be a good one with a lower gph or i could just put a ball valve on it to lower the flow?

I wouldnt put a ball valve on a canister for your 2.5 nano. Canisters pump so much water youd but a tremendous strain on the motor which would probably shorten its life considerably.
TOM has just made a canister filter that, from what I remember, pumps 80 gph. Just for nanos.
Theres an ad on marinedepot's paper catalog that I got in the mail but I have yet to see any information online anywhere (including marinedepots website AND the Tom website)

I have no idea how much it will cost but I'm pretty curious myself.

Cool i just saw it. Looks like it has a little spray bar on it too.

I recently setup a 2.5g and went with Aquarium Systems small submersible power filter called the Duetto Mini. Its essentially a Micro-jet powerhead with an etxra compartment for a sponge and tini carbon chamber. Its alot like the Elite mini (Hagen?) if you seen that.
It has adjustable flow just like the Micro-jet. I have it maxed out in my 2.5g and the flow seems just right.
That Pet Place and Marine Depot have it in their catalogues, but neither show it on-line.

I actually have a Duetto Mini. The only drawback with a submersible filter like that is that it takes up a large amount of precious space in our little tanks.
The Tom canister filter only requires an intake and output tubes, the rest of it is located outside the tank. The flow rate is about th esame as the Duetto Mini also. If its not too expensive, I'm going to pick one up for myself.

Tom said the cainister filter was available thru Marine Depot but they told me that they did not yet it in stock. This was two weeks ago but it would be perfect for a small tank.
