Are these Paly's? And also...if you look close at the top of the colony (frag, whatever) at the polyp that is closed and theres 2 at the bottom also that have never opened. Are those dead you think? If so...should i remove them? Thanks....

The closed polyps are probably new growth. Give the frag some time. As long as the polyps arent shrinking or cheesing up leave um.

Those are definitely Palythoa sp., unlike what a lot of people seem to call Palythoa :-)! Closed polyps can last for months in nature just fine (i.e. over winter) and then reopen, so yeah, I agree, just leave the closed ones and see what happens...

Well if the info was accurate in that thread then i would have to beleive these are protopaly's, based on the fact that my polyps are not embeded in the matt. It also mentioned something about proto's taking up sand? Should i place these on the sand instead of on my LR? Or better yet....anyone have a link for more detailed info on this? Thanks all...
