I've searched and searched, on-line, and other aquarium forums, tried using the search on here, but was not able to. On the other sites. I found one guy who made his own and another who's Dad built one for him at a cost of $300.00+. It looked VERY nice, but the $$$ is a little more then I would like to spend. Do any of you have a link to a site or post that goes into detail on how to build one? I really dont want to use power strips. I have an idea on how to build one, but would like to see/get some ideas. I work for a electrical supply co, so getting parts won't be a problem;)
Thanks....

I am not sure how attached you are to building you own, but I have two of the american DJ powercenters on my tank:
powercenter link (http://www.samash.com/catalog/showitem.asp?SKU=APC100AXX)
these are so much better than regular power strips, and at 30 bones, really cannot be beat.

I just did the same thing you want to Dan. I got tired of my power strips, so I went to menards and bought a strip much like the powercenter Kevin pointed out. The one I purchased was about $35-40 (can't remember exactally), but it have 12 outlets, all of which can be used with timers in place. It was a little over 48" long, but I was able to saw off the end of the aluminum after the last outlet, as the end cap is held on by 4 small screws. It fits perfectly inside the stand. I'll get a pic up if you'd like.

I was going to do a DIY power center myself. After I figured out the prices it gets to be pretty costly.
$15 each for electronic timers
$35 GFCI outlet
$20 outlets
$15 wall switches
$20 electrical wiring
$30 metal boxes
$15 faceplates
$25 wood to make a box
$20 misc items

A DIY power center may look nice and is custom tailored to suit your needs but is not cheap.

Thats exactly what I was going to do with those timers too. One question, Why so many GFCI's?

Is there a thread that shows how you made this? It is sweet.

Where did you buy the electronic timers? My local Lowes does not carry them.

Thanks.

If you cant find them at Lowes then you might want to check out Home Depot. I have seen them there for about $35. I bought my timers from ebay for about $15 each.
