I got a Finnex 500W deluxe titainium heater and electronic 0800 controller combo ordered May 19, 2005. I noticed the other day that the tank temp was 74 and the heater wasn't on the only way I can make it come on is if I turn it up to 90. Do I need to get a new controller already?

Sounds like you might have a faulty controller. The first thing I would do is contact Finnex at 708-354-0457. They should get the issue resolved for you right away. Please let me know if there's anything further I can do to help you out.

Well I got them and they were not any help except that if I pay for the shipping and the fixing they would try and fix it. And I thought I was buying a quality product  . Oh well live and learn.

It's common for manufacturers to require that shipping be paid for warranty issues, but I wouldn't think you'd have to pay for any repairs? Normally they'll send you a new product when they determine yours is defective? Is that not the way this was handled?

It doesn't mater I paid like 20 bucks for the thing and if cost me another 10 bucks to ship it back and forth I saved 9 bucks for a piece of whatever that might only last a week. I really don't know when this thing went bad as it hardly ever turns on because my tank is usually to warm anyway. I just need a different controller the heater works so I am guessing any controller will work do you have any suggestions on one that will work for more than one year?

I use an aquacontroller 3 myself. We also carry the medusa controller which you can find here.

Well it arrived today and you are right this thing is awesome I can see a lot of different things in the future when I figure out what it is possible of. One thing is I didn't have a clue how it worked and I don't have anything that I can plug anything into. Looks like I need something right now I only want to control the 500 watt heater, monitor the ph, the temp, ( it came with the temp probe and I have a ph probe ) and control the fans. Some day the lights, CO2 injection into the calcium reactor and maybe help my fry tank out. I don't know if you have time to help explain what I need or not but could you point me in the right direction please.

Thanks,
Mike

You just need a DC4 DC8 or X10 connection. I reccomend the DC8. That should control most of your needs. Let me know if I can help more.
