marine glow light Question??

I haev a 40 watt marineglow light, 48" long on my 45 gallon, next to it is a t12 fixture with a regular cool light. Is there anything i could put in that t-12 socket, and is the marine glow with that low wattage useful for growing any types of corals or at least amenonme(sp?hah) Or is the marineglow just hurting my system by accelerating algae growth. Right now i plan on this being a fowlr

oh and its a t-10 fixture for the marineglow, is there another replacement that could be better for this? Im leaving in about an hour to get a new one as im pretty sure its fairly old. Any input would be awsome!
