What boat are you in?

If you have used both what differences are there.

I'm currently planning to use ozone for 12hours once a week

Run ozone on a controller.

Ozone can make some really big changes in water quality quickly. I dont think running it once a week is a good idea. You'd be much better running it at a low level all the time.

Why not run both if you can. UV actually excites ozone and I believe you will get better results???

UV doesnt effect ozone per se. When you run ozone, all the ozone has broken down within a couple of seconds. It generally doesnt make it out of the area surrounding your skimmer (or reactor).

UV can make ozone though, and a lot of the older ozone generators were just UV tubes.

full time ozone here no UV any longer , to much heat in the water , i don't like to run a chiller.

If you run ozone fulltime don't you lose skimming performance?

I got this from it... not sure if I read it right??
Some of the proteins that would normally be skimmed get broken down and are decomposed by bacteria. This would put more load on the live rock.
That is why I thought running it once a week would give the clarity and toxin reduction of ozone without the loss of skimming.
