Hi guys
i have a 90 gal reef (i know its not that big and i could probably get away with just dosing kalk) but i am thinking about getting a small calcium reactor. what should i look for in a good reactor that can easily maintain my calcium levels around NSW levels. and does anyone have any suggestions on a brand or model? what should i look for?
thanks

What to look for in a good calcium reactor?

Somebody like Jorge at ReefTek who responds to email within 24 hours; often times within a couple hours. He cares about his products and all of us reefers.

Oh.... and look for a reactor of high quality that says ReefTek on the side.

Geo. It will be difficult to find a thread where someone complains about their Geo's. There are alot of good threads about Korallins and there are alot of bad ones too. I rarely see negative comments about the Schuran reactors - but if you did a search on the used equipment forum (here and at that Z site) within the last 6 months you will see alot of used Schuran reactors considering they were very hard to get when they first came out.

Geo leaves you with a product that is 100% functional. My Geo Calcium Reactor has a self filling bubble counter (that fills with water from the reactor), it also has a probe port if you wish to use it, uses an Eheim pump instead of Mag (hotter pumps precipitate Calcium faster), uses a bottom up deisgn (which doesn't accumulate CO2 pockets on the top), and has a unique top. When I say unique it has "key holes" on the lid. To remove the lid you only have to partially unscrew the screws then slightly twist the top then it comes off. Other reactors make you completely usncrew the screws to get the top off... what a PITA. Geo units are also fairly cheap for the high quality acylic you get.

alright, can someone explain to me the benifits of usint CO2 with a CA reactor? or can i get away with just running the reactor by itself because my system is so small?

You need co2 to run any reactor. CO2 lowers the PH in the reactor wich breaks down the media into calcium.

what about the coralife units?
