Need some advice on my 180g tank being built.

I am getting a 180g tank built with a coast to coast overflow.the fellow made it a little to big i think,it runs the entire length of the tank which is ok but he made it about 6"deep and approx 6 wide.
i wanted about 3-4 wide.He also siliconed 2 pieces of glass that are approx 2"wide by 24" long on the bottom pane of glass,1 that ties the frt pane to bottom pane and same for the back pane. .He says for extra strength.looks like crap,iwas thinking of going barebottom.Has anyone seen braces glued on the bottom?

Glass cages does the brace on the bottom like that. I really dont care for the look either, certainly not with a bare bottom tank. Maybe you could do the epoxy sand bed to cover it up. The overflow is probably built that wide to get the bulkead fittings in ?
