I wrapped a 3"x 4" wad of cheato with plastic mesh and put it in my display. I put it above a power head to keep it from being tossed around. Will this help or harm my tank?

I have a ball of extra chaeto in my display right now, no problem. I don't know what the mesh will do for you. I'd just leave it off, chaeto isn't invasive like caulerpa.

I recently put a 8" ball of chaeto in my display. So far so good. Fish dont bother it at all. The only thing is food will get trapped in there. When I do a water change (every two weeks) I take it out and shake (rinse) it in the last bucket of water before I dump it out. I did this last week end and a lot of crap came out. I think I'll make that part of my water change maintenance.
It actually looks kinda cool in there. I needed some green :D

I actually like the look of chaeto in my display. My yellow tang loves the stuff so I can't add it to a display that it's in.
What do you guys think about tossing a ball of it into my over flow box (110 gallon megaflow)?
Probably would run rampid and it wouldnt be easy to get out but my overflow isnt visible at all so would it matter if that stuff went crazy and did its own thing?

Chaeto needs light to grow. I doubt it would get enough light in the overflow.

One of my VHO bulbs runs right over the top of my overflow box.
Only because I have 4 bulbs on my Icecap 660.
Anyone think of any issues of why not?

Cool. I think you'll have to take it out occasionally to shake out the junk though.
